Samraat Talkies in Sikar

Political independence was accompanied by a happy surprise for those in Sikar, Rajasthan. Known earlier as Hardayal Talkies and later renamed in 1980 as Samraat Talkies, this popular cinema theater has been providing the local people with all the latest films for the past many years. The cinema screened the first film, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar (featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Rakhee, Vinod Khanna and Rekha) after its renovation in the 1980s and this movie was a top-hit of all times for Samraat.

Samraat Talkies, built in a simple yet attractive way, accommodates parking both for two-wheelers as well as cars. Inside, the structure of the building is simple yet stylish, with marble flooring and walls made of wooden. On the walls, there are movie posters showcasing the films screened at that time. Also, the inside looks splendid in a cream facade with a counter listing the movie timings and ticket costs, and the pastel walls give a dynamic look.

There is a fine lobby which adds to the pleasant ambience of the building. Samraat Talkies has highly comfortable luxurious pushback seats and it’s also set with the most advanced Dolby-Stereo sound system. The theater also uses high standard UFO digital technology and it has a large 70-mm screen.
Samraat Talkies screens Hindi as well as Rajasthani films and the all-time top hits are Beta, Mugaddar Ka Sikandar and Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai. Supported by a diverse audience of families, youth and couples, Hum Aapke Hain Koun movie ran for 16 weeks, a breaking record.

The theater also sometimes screens regional films in order to appeal to a greater audience. There is a seating capacity of 754, divided into four sections. They are the Embassy class seating 20 people, Super Deluxe seating 148, Deluxe seating 406 and Royal seating 180. The tickets here are Rs 60, Rs 50, Rs 40 and Rs 25 according to each class respectively. Shiv Mandir is the nearest competitor to Samraat Talkies and it features new releases too.
